Domestic Ventilation Systems

Assessment Information

BPEC has developed this course with the aim of providing electricians, plumbers, heating engineers and ventilation engineers with the knowledge and skills to correctly install and commission domestic ventilation systems. The course has been structured to meet the requirements of the Approved Document to Part F of the Building Regulations 2010 and is recognised as a demonstration of competence for Competent Person Schemes (CPS).


Trainees should hold a formal craft qualification e.g. N/SVQ 2/3 in Electrical, Plumbing, Heating or Heating and Ventilation and have a working knowledge of the construction of dwellings.

Further Information

Assessments normally consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations.

Expiry Information

Certificates are normally valid for 5 years.

Useful Information

This 2 day course will enable candidates to install and/or inspect the four common ventilation systems defined in Part F and to commission and handover the system. It will also provide an understanding of all the legal issues surrounding the installation of these systems and guidance on completion and submission of all the appropriate notifications.
