The team has been working with locals..
Merit Award 2012
Over the course of 2 days our team has been working with locals to clear and set out the site, fabricate steel reinforcement cages, dig foundations and concrete the bases of 9 supporting columns in place. Rock was bought from a 76 year old lady in order to make the concrete.
Training meetings have been held with locals about the technology needed for raising water to the (to be constructed) well to the feeder tank.
All of the construction materials needed to be shifted down a long track by hand – four twelve year old lads on their school holiday were happily hauling sand.
We all agreed that it would be a struggle to get twelve year olds out of bed or away from their computers in England!
