BPEC’s CEO, Neil Collishaw will be a keynote speaker at the highly anticipated Worshipful Company of Plumbers’ Annual Lecture on Monday 15 May at the Royal College of Physicians, Regent’s Park, London.
Each year the Worshipful Company of Plumbers’ lecture is held to inform and inspire attendees from across the plumbing and heating industry, with a particular emphasis on sharing best practice and stimulating forward-thinking discussions supporting and promoting the craft.
In 2023, the event will see several high-profile industry leaders take to the stage for a lively debate regarding the many different routes people can take to start a career in the plumbing and heating business.
Titled “Who Needs University, When Apprenticeships are Better?” discussion will focus on the benefits of paid apprenticeships versus university, and the variety of pathways that are available to those who begin their careers by gaining hands-on work experience alongside additional training.
Other keynote speakers taking part in the discussion include Carl Arntzen, CEO of Worcester Bosch and Kevin Wellman, CEO of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering. All the keynote speakers are passionate about encouraging more young people, and anyone who is keen to retrain, to consider a future in the Building Services Engineering sector.
Master of the Worshipful Company of Plumbers, Air Cdre Paul Nash OBE, said: “The demand to deliver new environmentally sustainable technologies, that are required to meet the energy supply and climate change challenges we face, are huge. The big question is, can we meet this demand in time? Our eminent speakers at the 2023 lecture will set out the industry requirements, and then discuss how we need to deliver training and education to meet them as quickly and effectively as possible.”
Tickets are available for the lecture only, with light refreshments (priced £25) or for the lecture and dinner (priced £85). The event will start at 5pm, with presentations and debate taking place from 6pm onwards. The lecture will be followed by reception drinks at 7pm, and dinner at 7.30 pm.
