BPEC Chairman George Thomson has been awarded an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Worshipful Company of Plumbers. The award is in recognition of George’s leadership roles within the Plumbing and Heating Industry.
George has shown outstanding leadership by making a real difference over many years by promoting a positive image of the industry, helping to raise its profile and championing the importance of apprenticeships and skills. George has done this in Scotland as President of SNIPEF, in the UK as a Board member of SummitSkills, Chair of BPEC, and he has recently become Chair of the newly established Plumbing and Heating Skills Partnership.
George has been a Director and Trustee of BPEC, and became Chairman in 2016. The skills and training landscape has, and is still currently going through radical changes, and George’s leadership skills have made a real difference both for BPEC and the Plumbing Industry across the UK and overseas. George has also actively promoted the Industry on the international stage via the World Plumbing Council.
It is truly remarkable that George has managed to find time outside of his busy work schedule to perform all the leadership roles he has undertaken, all on a voluntary basis – he really is a great inspiration and role model for other leaders and managers in the plumbing industry.
George was presented with the award earlier this year by Robert Burgon, Worshipful Company of Plumbers Master.
