Above Ground Drainage and Rainwater Systems

Assessment Information

Designed to give installers the skills and knowledge required to correctly install Above Ground Drainage and Rainwater Systems, this course consists of a training/reference manual to be read before a 1-day training session and completion of a written assessment.

Pre-requisites

Trainees should have an S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification in plumbing or a demonstrable number of years of relevant experience. However, this course is also suitable for students working towards a S/NVQ Level 2/3.

Further Information

Assessments normally consist of a theory examination.

This training course is also a method of proving operative competence in sanitary and rainwater pipework  systems under the requirements of Building regulations competent person Schemes e.g. APHC (Certification) Ltd CP Scheme

Expiry Information

Certificates are normally valid for 5 years.

Useful Information

It is designed to ensure that installers are fully aware of the legislation surrounding the design and installation requirements of both above ground sanitary and rainwater systems and also the purpose and use of the various components within each system including macerators and waste disposal systems.

Training Materials

The manual includes six modules, which cover:

  1. Legislation and key installation requirements of above ground sanitation systems.
  2. Types of above ground sanitary pipework system & key system design features.
  3. Using self sealing valves as an alternative to traps.
  4. Specialist appliances (macerator WCs & sink waste disposal units).
  5. Commissioning above ground sanitary pipework systems.
  6. Rainwater system design and installation.

The 1-day session covers all the topics in the training manual in more depth and includes some practical work.
