Assessment Information | The new BPEC Groundworker, Service Pipe and Meter Housing training programme has been designed to give installers the skills and knowledge to install meter and supply pipes in accordance with the water fittings regulations. The training course and assessment have been approved for use in training by the Water Regs UK on behalf of the water undertakers which participate in the Water Industry Approved Plumbers Scheme (‘WIAPS’) Approved Contractor Scheme. The training is mainly aimed at persons wishing to become Approved Contractors for the WIAPS Groundworker Sector by providing evidence to the Approved Contractor scheme that appropriate training has been completed. |
Pre-requisites | Trainees will need to have some knowledge of the water / construction industry. |
Further Information | The course comprises of two distinct modules – one for meter installation and the other module covers installation of the supply pipes (groundwork). There are no practical elements – all training is theoretical. Assessment takes the form of a theory examination of 40 questions. This is delivered and marked in the training centre. The Meter Housing Installation section is assessed by means of a separate question paper consisting of 10 questions. |
Expiry Information | Groundworker, Service Pipe and Meter Housing Installation certificates have a 5 year expiry date. |
Useful Information | The training is also relevant to designers and site managers who are an integral part of ensuring pitfalls are avoided before, during and after the water connection is made. |
Training Materials | All training materials have been agreed by HBF and UK Water which include the Groundwork, Service Pipe and Meter Housing training manual. |
Career Opportunities | Successful candidates will be able to use their certificate towards meeting the requirements of the Water / Utilities companies. |
