Assessment Information

The OFTEC assessment scheme covers a range of installation and maintenance activities within the domestic and commercial oil industry. The following assessments are available:

  • OFT10-101 Single Stage Pressure Jet Service and Commissioning*
  • OFT10-102W Servicing and Commissioning of oil and bio-liquid fuelled Vaporising burner fired domestic fixed combustion appliances (Wet) <45kW*
  • OFT10-102D Servicing and Commissioning of oil and bio-liquid fuelled Vaporising burner fired domestic fixed combustion appliances (Dry) <45kW*
  • OFT10-105E Installation of oil and bio-liquid fuelled fixed combustion appliances and systems
  • OFT10-600a Installation of oil fuel storage and supply systems connected to fixed combustion appliances

*An operative undertaking these assessments would also normally be required to undertake the OFT10-105E and The OFT10-600a assessments

Pre-requisites

For the initial OFTEC assessments, candidates must satisfy the entry requirements defined by the OFTEC Assessment Scheme Rules (Category 1, 2 and 3).

Candidates wishing to take re-assessment must have held the assessment element previously – if this element has expired within 12 months of the assessment date, it will be necessary to take the initial assessment.

Further Information

Assessments normally consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations. On completion, BPEC Certification Ltd will upload the assessment results to OFTEC.

Expiry Information

OFTEC certificates are normally valid for 5 years. Prior to the expiry date, candidates can elect to retake their qualification up to 6 months early without losing out (MOT Style). Previous certificates must be presented to the assessment centre as evidence of holding the original qualification.

Training Materials

Training is NOT always a pre-requisite for assessment although most candidates do elect to undertake some sort of training prior to the assessment.

Assessment Centres normally provide the opportunity for candidates to undertake training prior to the assessment.
