Routes to Gas Safe Registration (New Entrants)

With the introduction of the New Apprenticeships for the Gas Industry and / or Plumbing and Heating Industry, and the implementation of IGEM/IG/1 – Standards of training in gas work, there has been an increase in the industry approved options available to be recognised as a competent gas engineer and apply for Gas Safe Registration.

To ensure that any individuals who are intending to work within the Gas Industry have the opportunity to pursue their ambitions, BPEC has developed the courses, qualifications and assessments required.

We have also compiled a flowchart for new entrants, or anyone considering a career within the gas industry, which explains the routes available to Gas Safe Registration. Our flowchart can be seen here.

Please Note: To remain eligible for Gas Safe Registration an operative achieving any Gas Qualifications, Plumbing Qualifications with a gas option and / or ACS assessments will need to renew their competencies every 5 years.

BPEC has a network of approved assessment centres around the country to facilitate your reassessment requirements. These can be found via our Find a Centre page.

Did you know that our Certification Body has the largest number of approved ACS centres in the UK? We are committed to the industry and our specialist technical team are dedicated in supporting our approved centres.

If you are a training centre or college interested in delivering BPEC qualifications and courses, or if you are already a BPEC centre and would like to extend your scope, then please do not hesitate to get in touch with us at cbadmin@bpec.org.uk. We look forward to hearing from you!
