Chief Executive Officer
Neil has over 30 years’ experience within the building services engineering (BSE) sector. Neil started as an apprentice, which soon led to him running a successful plumbing and heating business. Neil has held senior roles in Further Education, managing a large building services department, and also worked as a Senior Manager for SummitSkills, a Sector Skills Council for the BSE sector.
Neil became BPEC CEO in January 2019. Prior to this, since joining BPEC in 2014, Neil held a variety of other senior positions at BPEC which included Deputy CEO, Head of Innovation & Development and Head of the BPEC Charity.
Outside of work, Neil enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters and son-in-law (he remains adamant that he is far too young to have grandchildren!). Neil is a keen sportsman; playing tennis for a local club and golfing occasionally. His friends describe him as a very competitive person, however he fervently disputes this claim!
Head of Operations and Development
Matt has worked in the plumbing industry since 1991, with almost 15 years’ experience in education, qualifications and assessment. Matt’s first 5 years in education were working in Further Education, where he developed as a Grade 1 Tutor, becoming a Subject Learning Coach and Mentor after attaining his teaching, assessing and verification qualifications. Matt then moved on to work in the private education sector as Director of Learning for a multi-site training organisation, specialising in Construction and Building Services where he was responsible for the quality of teaching and learning for all programmes as well as setting the strategy of the organisation.
Matt joined BPEC as a Development Manager in October 2015, and then planned and managed the development and implementation of the BPEC End-point Assessment Organisation.
In January 2019, Matt took a new role at BPEC as Head of Operations and Development.
Matt is a season ticket holder at Rotherham United and an avid stand-up comedy fan; he assures us that these activities are completely unrelated! His favourite quote is attributed to Henry Ford: “Whether you think you can, or think you can’t… You’re right”.
Head of Finance and Business Services
Prior to joining BPEC, Jack spent seventeen years as the Accountant at St Paul’s Cathedral during which time the cathedral underwent a £40 million, 10 year, restoration programme which required maintaining good controls of both costs and grant income.
Previously he had worked as a director for a facilities management company with responsibility for finance, IT and HR. He has also worked in the engineering, financial services and distribution sectors as well as a spell of running his own recruitment business.
Jack joined BPEC as head of Finance and Business Services in September 2019. Jack manages the finance, IT, HR and facilities teams at BPEC.
Jack recently moved to Derbyshire with his wife to be nearer to both children and grandchildren. Outside of work Jack enjoys cycling, painting and following football to the extent that he is seriously considering swelling the numbers of season ticket holders to four at Mickleover Sports FC!
