BPEC Pays Tribute to Former Chair Jack Wishart

Remembering Jack Wishart

Everyone at BPEC was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former Group Chairman, Jack Wishart, who died peacefully at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, on Thursday 16 July, aged 82.

Jack dedicated an extraordinary 23 years to BPEC as a Director and Trustee, from 1992 until 2015. Having served for several years as Vice Chairman, he became BPEC Group Chairman in 2002, a position he held until 2008.

During his chairmanship, Jack oversaw a period of significant change for BPEC. Among the milestones was the purchase and opening of our head offices in Derby in 2007. The photograph shows Jack, at the front right, alongside fellow BPEC Trustees at the opening.

A plaque commemorating that occasion remains mounted in the entrance lobby at Derby. BPEC staff walk past it every day – a lasting reminder of an important moment in our history and of the people, including Jack, who helped make it possible.

But Jack’s contribution was about far more than buildings or milestones. Whenever he visited Derby, he always made time to speak with staff, offering encouragement and showing a genuine interest in the people behind the organisation. He is remembered as a wonderfully kind and thoughtful person, and a tremendous ambassador for the plumbing and heating industry.

Beyond BPEC, Jack was an active plumbing employer member and a past President of SNIPEF, further reflecting his longstanding commitment to the industry he served.

Jack was the husband of the late Agnes and much-loved dad of Scott and Nikki. Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with his family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

BPEC Chairman Duncan Wilson will represent the organisation at Jack’s funeral in Kirkcaldy on Friday.

We will be forever grateful for Jack’s dedication, passion and enthusiasm in supporting BPEC over so many years. His contribution forms an important part of our history and will not be forgotten.
