Pre-requisites | Designed for candidates wanting to enter the gas industry. Some trainees will hold a recognised qualification in the mechanical services engineering sector (e.g. plumbing) but lack gas training and experience, while other applicants are new to the gas industry and will need more intense training. |
Further Information | Assessments normally consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations. The course requires 32 days in centre environment plus ‘on the job’ training with candidates providing work-based evidence under the supervision of a Gas Safe registered installer. The Meter Foundation will consist of; 238 guided learning hours as well as the completion of the candidate portfolio of work experience which must provide evidence representative of a minimum of six (6) weeks (domestic) and ten (10) weeks (non-domestic). |
Expiry Information | No expiry date is applied. (But there is a expiry for the relevant ACS gas assessments which is five years). |
Useful Information | On successful completion of the training and portfolio, candidates are issued with a BPEC Meter Foundation certificate, giving them entry to undertake the relevant ACS assessments (CMA1, CESP, MET1). |
