BPEC’s End-point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) are approved by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and are included on the Register of End-point Assessment Organisations (RoEPAO).
We have been approved to provide End-point Assessment for the following standards:
The End-point Assessment Organisation is also in the process of applying to extend its scope of delivery to cover End-point Assessment for the Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician (Level 3) Apprenticeship Standard.
End-point Assessment has been introduced to improve the apprenticeship programme: all apprentices must take an independent End-point Assessment during the last 3 months of their programme to confirm that they have achieved occupational competence, and to ensure they have developed the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviours to prepare them for the workplace. This assessment must be carried out by an independent End-point Assessor who is approved by the End-Point Assessment Organisation who must be independent from the apprentice’s training provider and/or employer. The assessment involves practical tasks, questions and interviews, which have been developed by trailblazer employer groups, giving employers the confidence that apprentices are competent.
An apprentice cannot complete and achieve their apprenticeship without passing the end-point assessment.
Neil Collishaw, BPEC’s new Chief Executive, discussed End-point Assessment in June 2018’s edition of Installer magazine. The article can be read here.
BPEC’s Awarding Organisation is currently developing the regulated plumbing qualification that is a mandatory requirement within the Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician standard apprenticeship. This will be complimented with free resources covering all three phases together with the options (gas, oil, solid fuel & environmental technologies) of phase four.
A BPEC textbook is available offering full and comprehensive coverage of both practical and theory aspects of the Level 3 Plumbing and Domestic Heating Qualification for Phase 1. This has been written exclusively for BPEC and contains many new photographs and drawings. Full details can be found here.
