Safe to Touch and Safe Electrical Isolation requirements from 1 July 2020
After consultation with the gas industry the ACS Scheme owner Energy & Utility Skills has announced that from July 2020 gas engineers will need to be able to show that they have the knowledge and competence to enable them to follow Safe to Touch and, where appropriate, Electrical Safe Isolation procedures. In articles published by Gas Safe Register, Energy & Utility Skills’, the Standard Setting Body that operate the ACS assessment scheme, have set out what will be required.
All candidates attending BPEC ACS assessment centres to renew a full core certificate will be asked to self-declare if they are competent to carry out Safe to Touch and, if applicable, Safe Electrical Isolation procedures, and they will be asked to sign a BPEC Self Declaration Form to confirm their competence.
If you have any questions regarding this new process please contact either Grant Davies or Rob Barker from our CB team at cbadmin@bpec.org.uk.
There are courses available for operatives to up-skill through BPEC Services. Please click here for further details.
