SkillPLUMB is helping young people to excel at the WorldSkills UK National Finals
SkillPLUMB is proud to support the WorldSkills UK Finals of the Plumbing & Heating Special Edition competition taking place at Middlesborough College from 16-18 November, one of seven venues to host the WorldSkills UK National Finals.
The country’s top students and apprentices will go for gold at different venues during the week commencing Monday 14 November with 62 finals taking place across several different skills, with Middlesborough College hosting the plumbing competition amongst other finals.
The eight competitors who will compete in the 2022 SkillPLUMB / WorldSkills UK final at Middlesborough College are Sean Esslemont, Andrew McCann, Thomas Bentley, Ruben Duggan, Kayne Forsyth, Andrew Reain, Charlie Oliver and Jack Forbes.
“All eight finalists are a credit to their employers and colleges, and fantastic ambassadors for the UK plumbing industry and anyone considering a career in our industry,” commented Neil Collishaw, BPEC CEO. “They and their tutors and employers should be extremely proud of the quality of skill and dedication they have displayed and I wish them all the best of luck!”
Designed by industry experts, WorldSkills UK competitions help young people grow personally and professionally by developing their technical and employability skills – as well as shining a light on the amazing skilled potential in the UK.
“Our competitions equip apprentices and students with the lifelong, world-class skills that will help increase UK productivity and competitiveness,” said WorldSkills UK Deputy CEO Ben Blackledge.
As well as boosting skills and confidence, if competitors impress under the pressure of the finals, they could be in with a chance of representing the UK at the “skills olympics” in France in 2024.
Steph McGovern will announce the winners on Friday 25 November in a special medal ceremony, live-streamed to the WorldSkills UK website, from her Packed Lunch studio.
