A Fantastic Achievement for Andrew McCann at WorldSkills Shanghai

This week we are congratulating former SkillPLUMB UK Finalist Andrew McCann, who delivered an outstanding performance representing the UK plumbing industry at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 last week.

Competing against talented young plumbers from 32 countries, Andrew achieved an impressive 4th place internationally and was awarded a prestigious Medal for Excellence in recognition of his high standard of performance.

Andrew’s success follows an incredible international journey. After reaching the SkillPLUMB UK Final in 2023, he went on to represent the UK at EuroSkills 2025, where he was also awarded a Medal for Excellence in 5th place. His Shanghai efforts saw him take his success a step further with an increase in ranking against even more countries.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to WorldSkills UK Training Manager Ronnie Ferris MBE for the significant support, expertise and commitment he provided throughout Andrew’s training and development. Ronnie played an important role in preparing Andrew for the demands of competing at the highest level on the international stage.

Congratulations Andrew – 4th in the world is an incredible achievement, and the UK plumbing industry is incredibly proud of you!

SkillPLUMB is part of the WorldSkills UK network and provides the only route for plumbing students and apprentices to have the opportunity to represent their country and compete internationally.
