Description

BPEC have developed the Solid Fuel Installer Course to help installers to meet the requirements of UK building regulations and standards, and manufacturers for the installation of ‘dry’ and ‘wet’ domestic solid fuel heating equipment that is currently available today.

An important element of this course is to understand the requirement to meet National Occupation Standards for competency for installation of domestic solid fuel heating systems.

This manual is to be used in conjunction with the training course, with both covering the following:

• Introduction to solid fuel and wood heating
• Solid fuel wood heating
• Combustion, appliance types and fuel types
• Legislation, regulations and standards
• Flues and chimneys classification
• Flues and chimneys ventilation
• Appliance installation requirements
• Appliance maintenance requirements
• Basic chimney faults
• Unsafe situations

BPEC recommend that you use the training manual as a pre-course study pack to prepare you for training and assessment.

These materials will serve both as a means of learning, as well as a tool of reference for future use.
