Gas Foundation and ACS Assessment – Separation of Training and Assessment

The BPEC Gas Foundation qualifications are aimed at ‘career-changers’ who wish to work in the ‘downstream’ gas industry. Individuals that successfully complete the qualifications are eligible to go on to take the relevant ACS qualifications which then provide a route to Gas Safe Registration.

BPEC offer three Gas Foundation qualifications, these are:

Domestic
Commercial
Commercial Catering

Currently there are over 60 BPEC approved centres delivering the Gas Foundation qualifications to candidates across the UK. Prospective candidates must be able to gain access to related gas ‘work’, carried out under the supervision of a Gas Safe Registered engineer.

Centres wishing to offer the qualifications will be required to have the appropriate ‘practical provisions’ to deliver the ‘in-centre’ assessment and training. Trainers will also need to hold the necessary ACS qualifications.

*Please note that the ACS rules prevent anyone involved in the delivery of gas training to a specific candidate , including Gas Foundation Training, from carrying out related ACS assessments of the same candidate.
